We would love for you to join us for a day that promises to be as thoughtful as it is enjoyable. We’re bringing together practitioners to play, look, and think together, and we hope you’ll be one of them.
9:30am registration for a 10:00am start.
Refreshments and a shared lunch are provided (vegetarian options available).
An invitation to look, play and create together
Come and join Carrie Lobman and Chris Helm from the East Side Institute, New York, developers of the Social Therapy approach, for a day of shared discovery.
Inspired by Wittgenstein’s “Don’t think but Look,” and drawing on the work of Lev Vygotsky, Fred Newman and Lois Holzman, the day invites us to explore new and playful ways of ‘looking’ that fit the complexity of the emotional and relational issues we meet in practice.
Practice through play and performance
We’ll practise and rehearse “looking” together through exercises full of play, performance and philosophising.
Creating the ‘stage’
Central to this approach is creating the ‘stage’ and building the ‘group’ that makes real development possible.
A developmental, performatory orientation
Carrie and Chris will explore what this developmental and performative orientation might offer to our everyday work.
Reflection and encounter
There will be plenty of room for reflection and questions, and for the differences and possibilities that emerge when our approaches meet.
Places are limited, so book early via the Eventbrite link provided to secure your spot; we’d love to see you there.
Come ready to experiment, encounter and “look” together
