About Rubi
Rubi brings a warm, compassionate, and collaborative approach to her work, grounded in systemic practice and a deep respect for the relationships and environments that shape our lives. She is committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families to strengthen communication, build meaningful connections, and find new ways forward during times of challenge or change.
A core part of Rubi’s practice is her passion for integrating nature and the outdoors into therapeutic work. She recognises the growing body of research, particularly emerging since the Covid-19 pandemic, that highlights the positive impact of nature on mental health, wellbeing, and recovery. Where appropriate, Rubi thoughtfully incorporates outdoor and nature-based approaches to enhance engagement and support healing.
Rubi has extensive experience working with children, young people, and adults with complex mental health needs. She has spent several years within NHS services supporting children, adolescents, and families navigating neurodiversity, including ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and behaviours that may feel challenging or overwhelming. Drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience, Rubi offers a thoughtful, respectful, and strengths-based approach. A particular strength of her work is providing clear and accessible psycho-education, helping individuals and families adapt their systems and environments to better support everyday functioning and a fulfilling life.
Alongside her private therapeutic work, Rubi currently holds two senior roles within the NHS. She works as a Senior Family and Systemic Psychotherapist in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Eating Disorders Service, supporting young people and their families through some of the most difficult periods they may face. In this context Rubi provides therapy to young people, adults, and couples.
Rubi is also a Senior Lecturer at the Tavistock Centre, where she teaches on the Masters programme in Systemic Psychotherapy. In this role, she is a clinical supervisor and module lead, contributing to the training and development of future systemic therapists.
With over 15 years of clinical experience, Rubi is a highly experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (Masters in Systemic Psychotherapy; UKCP and AFT registered). Her professional foundations are in social work (Masters in Social Work), including over a decade in child protection, where she developed a deep understanding of family dynamics, risk, resilience, and change.
Outside of work, Rubi values time in nature and can often be found walking, hiking, or running outdoors, activities that continue to nourish her personally and inform her therapeutic practice.
