About Angus

I am an experienced Systemic Family Therapist - exclusively self-employed since 2016.

Most of my work is conducted face-to-face, as a singleton practitioner from my home address 10 minutes from J24 of the M5. I also regularly work with a long-standing female colleague 5 minutes from J 27 of the M5.

I can offer home visits and online consultations if appropriate.

I receive regular supervision and offer a supervisory service.

I welcome self and third party enquiries and offer both short and extended periods of therapeutic engagement.

For many years I was NHS employed working in CAMHS as a Family Therapist providing a direct service to families, consultations, supervision and training. Prior to that I was a senior social worker in various roles and locations. I value and draw upon all acquired knowledge.

I work across the age range and positively welcome offering my skills to individuals, couples and families experiencing life challenges. Local Authorities seek my services with scenarios of significant complexity, particularly in the area of post adoption support and family rupture.

I value unpicking difficulties that exist at the intersection of points of socially perceived difference, seeking to work collaboratively to restore / achieve harmony. I am willing to work with people, irrespective of there being a current tangible issue, from a trauma-informed perspective.

I routinely offer reflective thoughts in attempts to help address areas that seem stuck and can often offer advice, if it is advice that is sought, recognising that long experience can often equate with expertise.

I see myself as an optimist in even the gloomiest of times and attend to my own energy-flow. I work hard and admire people who seek to raise new lenses and review aspects of their lives through therapy and believe that family therapy offers something exceptional because of its emphasis on relationships and the context in which everything occurs.

I regularly work out of doors and value all that the natural world offers. I value links between literature, art, music and therapy.

To open a chapter with me, call, text or email and I will respond as promptly as I can.
