About David

I'm a qualified systemic couple and family psychotherapist and mental health clinician with over 26 twenty years of experience working in the NHS mental health services with adults and children.

I’m experienced in working with couples, families, individuals, adolescents and children, providing evidence-based psychological interventions. I'm experienced working with trauma and most complex presentations, such as eating disorders, emotional instability, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, autism, ADHD, attachment difficulties, bereavement, challenging behaviours, anger management and poor health-related issues. I also have experience working with people who want to explore their identity relating to gender and sexuality.

I also have extensive experience of working with couples, where there have been issues in relation to trust, communication and intimacy. I have experience of working with couples and families before and after separation and stepfamily joining, and where there have been affairs.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy to couples, families, children and individuals. My approach is Systemic, which means I work collaboratively with people, providing a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential environment. I can be flexible with time frames and locations to conduct psychotherapy and have access to consulting rooms. I'm also experienced in delivering therapy using online platforms.

My approach is Systemic, which means that I work with people to understand their relationships past and present. I tailor my approach to suit the people I'm working with by listening to the issues you bring and by asking questions to explore emotional and relationship issues or loss and life transition difficulties, in which dilemmas, distress, emotions and confusion can be resolved by identifying unhelpful thought processes and patterns of behaviour that may be contributing towards you feeling stuck and frustrated.

Using a strengths-based approach, I will work with you and provide feedback and make suggestions for you to choose from. I work with people to improve their understanding in their relationships and enhance their communication, promoting resilience and change, creating new coping strategies and the process of reconnection within the relationships of the people involved.
