About Lydia

*New Clients Welcome*

Hello! As an experienced systemic psychotherapist I specialise in working with individuals, families, and couples, who have experienced difficult or traumatic life events, as well as those struggling with overwhelming emotions and relationship difficulties.

I have over 20 years’ post qualifying experience working in the NHS and Social Care as both a therapist and clinical supervisor and often work with people with neurodevelopmental differences. I am sensitive to diverse family structures, beliefs, and cultures and actively work to practice inclusively.

Systemic therapy focuses on relationships, between people, and within ourselves. I also draw on a range of other therapeutic approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach which applies systemic principles to our internal world and emotions; Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), a family-based approach for children who have experienced trauma; and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which offers practical skills for managing emotions and relationships. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based parenting approaches. Talking is a big part of therapy and its only one part. I use creative, play based and body and movement based (somatic) approaches, to explore feelings and relationships.

The decision to start therapy is often a brave one. I aim to create a calm space in which we can together build a relationship from which to explore your hopes and goals for the work and your future. I will work with you to figure out what approaches work best for you and the pace that feels right.
