About Richard
I’m a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and EMDR therapist with experience working in both NHS/CAMHS services and private practice. I work with adults, young people and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, grief, shame and patterns that can feel difficult to change.
My approach is warm, collaborative and practical. I don’t believe therapy should feel like something being done to you. We work together to understand what is happening, why certain reactions may have developed, and what your mind and body might need in order to feel safer and less stuck.
I draw on EMDR, trauma-focused psychotherapy, attachment-based approaches, parts work and body-based therapies. Sometimes our work may involve processing difficult memories. At other times, the focus may be on understanding present-day triggers, building emotional regulation, or helping different parts of you feel less in conflict with one another.
You can expect me to be engaged, curious and straightforward. I will not rush you into talking about experiences before you feel ready, and I try to work at a pace that feels manageable. My aim is to help you understand yourself more clearly, feel more able to stay present with difficult emotions, and develop greater freedom in how you respond to yourself, other people and the situations you face.
