About Richard
I am a UKCP Registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist and Systemic Supervisor, working in Exeter and online. I work with individuals, couples and families who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships or facing changes and challenges in their lives. My approach is collaborative and systemic. This means understanding difficulties in the context of people's relationships, families, experiences and the wider social and cultural worlds in which they live. Rather than assuming there is one correct account of a problem, we can explore different perspectives, patterns and circumstances, recognise existing strengths and consider what might make something different possible. I have particular experience of working with couples and families, including parents, separation and divorce, stepfamilies, and situations where mental health difficulties are affecting relationships within a family. I also provide systemic supervision to psychotherapists, coaches and other professionals. My approach to supervision pays particular attention to relationships, context and the wider systems in which we work, including how we ourselves participate in and influence those systems.
